About Me

I’m a poor, lovestruck fool. I’m infatuated, obsessed. My mind is consumed by beer and food. I am fascinated by flavors and textures. A great meal or beverage is just like beautiful music. They don’t have to be complex, but the components harmonize in interesting ways.  They keep your mind intrigued by what your senses are telling it.  It can invoke emotions deeper than satiety.  You eat and sip not out of hunger or thirst, but from the desire to experience it again.

I am a trained scientist, but I had to make a sacrifice (not so much) and leave the academic path. It fit me like thong sandals on a guy with no big toes. I now work as a line cook, earning a humble living in exchange for the privilege to fulfill my primal need to constantly create delicious food – even if it is for total strangers. Cooking is in my blood, so many people in my family have taught me how to cook and are excellent cooks themselves. I cook anything and everything, all styles. I love toying with new ingredients and foreign techniques. I love experimenting, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing, sometimes giving up on things entirely, but always learning.  It's always fun.

I am an amateur brewer, aiming to work professionally. I love beer, but brewing itself is where my passion lies. The process is amazing, the science is fascinating, and the beer at the end is damn delicious when you know what you’re doing. It is an exercise in patience. It is always rewarding.  And fun.

Charlie is my orange tabby cat and quasi-loyal minion of mischief.  He doesn't have thumbs, so I ghost-write this site for him.  He doesn't even really care about this thing, so it's really kinda my site, not his.  Crap, he's reading over my shoulder right now.
